From 2009 to 2015, Alison served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), overseeing the collection and publication of data for the UK's higher education sector. Prior to this role, she held senior executive positions at several prestigious UK universities, including the University of Bristol, the University of Warwick, and Goldsmiths, University of London. Her leadership responsibilities spanned student services, recruitment, IT, and learning resources. In 2016, Alison was awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her services to higher education. She currently holds non-executive roles, serving as Deputy Chair of the Board of Regents University Ltd London and on the Board of Study Group UK and Harper Adams University. She was recently a member of the Bar Standards Board regulating barristers in Great Britain. She currently is an external advisor on the University of Cambridge Information Services Committee and on the Higher Education Policy Institute Advisory Board, contributing her expertise in higher education and IT.
