British International University in Turkmenistan (BIU Turkmenistan) is the first and only international university in Turkmenistan to award direct degrees from the University of London.

Programme Details

The International Foundation Programme (IFP) at the BIU Turkmenistan is open to students who have completed secondary education and are eager to pursue higher education in an international environment. Applicants must demonstrate strong academic potential, English proficiency, and a commitment to academic success. The program is designed to prepare students for undergraduate studies while providing tailored support to meet the specific needs of students from Turkmenistan.

0. BIU General Admissions Requirements

Evidence of strong academic background, which may be demonstrated with: 

  • High Scores in the university entrance exam organized by BIUT
  • High scores in standardized tests such as SAT/ACT.
  • National or International Olympiad medalists
  • etc.

1. English Language Requirements

The following proficiency tests are accepted for the International Foundation Programme, provided they have been awarded within the past three years:

  • Duolingo: must achieve an overall score of at least 95.
  • (IELTS) International English Language Testing System: 5.5 overall, with 5.0 in each sub-test (Academic or General or IELTS Indicator Online Test).
  • (TOEFL) iBT Test of English as a Foreign Language (including Special Home Edition test): 75 overall, with 18+ in Reading and Writing sub-tests and 16+ in Speaking and Listening.

For those who can't meet one of the above proficiency requirements, there will be additional year of language instruction at the BIU.
